Hello, traveller
This is a journey of one writer’s pursuit to find home.
My name’s Marina and, to quote Marina Diamandis twice in one sentence, I’m [feeling] rootless.
Where I live, just outside the busy streets of Toronto, doesn’t quite feel like home anymore. It did once, and perhaps it will again, but now I know I need to do some searching to find my place. Who knows, maybe I’ll come back here, to my own bustling city and discover this was home all along, but right now I am feeling drawn to the borders of this continent and I want to cross them. I want to find myself in new places, just as I always do when I travel.
So, this is a journey of one writer’s pursuit to find home.
I hope you’ll join me as I Hobbit my way through the world in search of great stories and a place I can call my own. I promise to share the tips and tricks I have up my sleeve from a lifetime of travel, the ups and downs, and the truly nitty gritty. Travel isn’t easy, finding home is going to be even harder. But I’m glad to have you along for the ride.
In 2025 and beyond, I’ve got a lot in store. We’ll be travelling to Oregon and California, Mexico, England, Scotland, Iceland and maybe even a country or two in Africa (a whole new continent for me!). In the meantime, I’ll be sharing some of my favourite moments of travel from 2024 and earlier, one of which has called to me louder than the others—the first place I’d like to return to see if it is the home I’ve been looking for.
Thank you for being here, wild one!
I hope you enjoy this new series!
